11/23/08 - Pre-Thanksgiving Feast (Part I)

Freshman year, I spent my first Thanksgiving with TJ’s family. It was a bit surreal at the time, to partake in a celebration I had only known from movies and books. Since then however, I’ve not only gotten used to the idea of of Thanksgiving, I’ve also grown extremely fond of it.

This is how I understand the holiday:
1) Set aside the day to make lots and lots of food.
(You know you are on the right track when you look at the food and think to yourself, This is way too much.)
2) Sit down at the table with your favorite people.
3) Stuff your face until you feel as though you might combust.
Then eat some more.

Because it’s wasteful to celebrate such a fantastic occasion just once, my apartment decided to throw a Pre-Thanksgiving feast on Sunday. All afternoon, my roommates and I kept the oven hot, as we shuffled in and out of the kitchen, turning out dish after dish of decadence.

At 8 PM, the rest of our party joined us. I love it when guests stream through our door bearing delicious gifts.
