8/24/08 - Summer Peanut Noodles.
When I lived closer, I used to spend most of my summer days at grandma and grandpa’s. For lunch we would often have cold noodles tossed with a sauce based in peanut butter and all sorts of vegetables.
Tonight, I cooked a pound of angel hair and attempted to recreate the summer taste from memory. As I was putting the meal together, friends began to wander in, offering help as they came.
To give credit where it’s due - Opi stirred the sauce while SJ sliced up the cucumbers.
This seems to be the overarching theme tonight: working together. After dinner, we spent hours in TJ’s room building Ikea furniture. I am now a proud owner of a hand-built chest of drawers.
Again, to give credit where it’s due - SJ was the formidable commander, Opi the all-capable handywoman, TJ the problem solver and Ariel the cheerleader.
What glory dare I claim for myself?
Only the talent of having such great friends.
Oh, the few crooked nails on the back, they were mine too.
